Doji will require:

• Any children to be well into their teens
• No cats, pocket pets or other animals
• A home as an only dog or with a confident female dog who will tolerate rough play
• Daily walks, always on lead
• Access to inside the home
• A reasonable sized yard with grass and undercover areas
• Secure fences and gates at least 5 foot high
• Experience with Akita ownership is essential.

Meet Doji, a friendly 3 year old American Akita.   He’s full of energy, loves to play and can be a little excited when meeting new people, but calms down quickly.

Doji generally gets along well with female dogs, however he does like to play very rough sometimes so any potential canine sister needs to also enjoy the same style of play.

His ideal family must have Akita experience and enough time to take him on daily walks, as exercise is important for him.   Because he’s big, exuberant boy who likes to throw his ample weight around, he is not suitable for homes with young children or smaller dogs.

Doji loves being spoiled, but also needs to be allowed to spend time on his own so that he doesn’t get too used to having his own way and develop separation anxiety.   His new home will need to have a secure backyard that has at least 5 foot high fencing, and with no cats or other small animals.

He loves playing with toys and balls, and he also enjoys doing a bit of doggy skateboarding!  He’s a quick learner with great foundational obedience, and once he develops a bond with his new family he responds beautifully to directions.

Doji had knee surgery last year which he is completely recovered from, however x-rays have shown that he will need surgery on his other leg which is why he has been placed on hold.

Doji is a wonderfully sweet boy who deserves a patient, experienced Akita owner who can handle his large size, so if you fit the bill, please apply!

Doji is not available for interstate adoption and is not suitable for apartments, homes with small yards or rural areas.
