This lovely fellow came to us from a regional pound where he had been surrendered by his owner, who could not have him in their new home. He had only been with the owner for 2 years so we don’t have much information about his past, although we have been told that he has lived with other dogs.
Bandit is a very affectionate boy who loves a cuddle and a belly-rub, but is also happy chilling out on his own outside or on the couch.
He has had some training and basic obedience (with the usual selective Husky-hearing!) and will sit and wait for food. He is quite easy to walk on lead but is quite interested in chasing wildlife and exploring, so as typical for the breed he can never be trusted off-lead.
Don’t be fooled by Bandit’s age, he looks and acts much younger than his 10 years and is still very active and loves going for walks. As often is the case with senior dogs, he has started to develop some arthritis which might limit his tolerance of strenuous exercise, however this is not affecting him greatly at the moment.
Bandit is okay with social dogs once he has got to know them, although initially he can be a bit too much in their face, so introductions need to be managed with care on lead. Despite his age, he wouldn’t be suitable with very young kids due to his exuberance when excited.
Bandit is a cheeky, affectionate, easy dog that will make a wonderful addition to a family willing to give an older dog a chance.
Bandit is not available for interstate adoption and is not suitable for apartments, homes with small yards or rural areas.
